Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
-
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage. Add the cabbage leaves to the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes, or until softened. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, cooked rice, onion, garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
-
Take a cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the turkey mixture in the center. Roll the leaf tightly, tucking in the sides as you go. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and turkey mixture.
-
In a small bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and chicken broth. Spread a thin layer of this mixture in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
-
Place the cabbage rolls in the baking dish, seam side down. Pour the remaining tomato mixture over the rolls.
-
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cabbage rolls are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
-
Serve the turkey cabbage rolls hot, topped with some of the tomato sauce.
