Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and slightly softened, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon.

  4. Once the beef is cooked through, add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, red pepper flakes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Stir well to combine.

  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, until it has thickened slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves, if desired.
