How To Make Catfish Po’ Boy Sandwich Recipe

A classic New Orleans sandwich made with crispy fried catfish, lettuce, tomatoes, and a tangy remoulade sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound catfish fillets
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp chopped capers
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices of tomato

Instructions

  1. Cut catfish fillets into 4 equal pieces.

  2. In a shallow bowl, mix together cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.

  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Coat catfish pieces in cornmeal mixture and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  5. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, capers, parsley, chives, lemon juice, and hot sauce.

  6. Toast hoagie rolls.

  7. Spread remoulade sauce on hoagie rolls.

  8. Place lettuce on bottom half of roll, top with fried catfish and a slice of tomato.

  9. Serve immediately.
