Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes
Total: 25 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cups ice
  • Salt, to taste
  • For the cocktail sauce:
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Squeeze lemon juice into the boiling water and add the lemon halves. Season with salt.

  2. Add the shrimp to the boiling water and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them.

  3. Remove the shrimp from the water and transfer them to a bowl filled with ice. Let them cool for a few minutes.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using). Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more horseradish or lemon juice if desired.

  5. Serve the shrimp chilled with the cocktail sauce on the side. Enjoy!
