Ingredients

For Dough:

  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp shortening

For Pizza Toppings:

  • 1 cup grated mozzarella
  • 1 cup fresh button mushroom, chopped
  • ½ cup black olives
  • ½ cup tomatoes, grated, seeded, chopped
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup basil, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup red sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, drizzled, to serve

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the yeast and water for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a different large bowl combine the flour, salt, and shortening. Combine the yeast mixture and knead for 5 minutes, the mixture should become smooth.
  3. Set aside in a warm place for around 1 hour with cling wrap.
  4. Make a round shape out of the dough cover with cling wrap. Let it rest again for 20 minutes.
  5. After it rises, put in the oven for 5 minutes.
  6. Begin with spreading the red sauce evenly, then adding the mushroom, olives, chopped tomatoes, basil, and olive oil drizzle.
  7. Top it off with the Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
  8. Once it is ready, garnish with basil.
