Chicken Marsala Recipe (Olive Garden Copycat)

Chicken Marsala Recipe (Olive Garden Copycat)

Olive Garden has a lot of Italian dishes that I keep coming back to. One of which is their delicious chicken marsala with sliced mushrooms and onions that’s drenched in a savory sauce made of dry marsala wine. Aside from the marsala sauce, the tender chicken breasts are also seasoned and dredged in a flour, oregano, salt and pepper mixture. All of these combined makes for a rich tasting chicken marsala Olive Garden Italian dish.

I decided to recreate this scrumptious dish so that I can savor its fresh and delicious flavors longer when it’s made at home. I had a delightful time eating it, and it was definitely one of the best chicken marsala recipes out there. The ingredients for this copycat Olive Garden chicken marsala are really simple to find since it doesn’t really use any foreign Italian ingredients. You can easily find the marsala wine at your local grocery store. Make sure to choose the dry marsala wine and not the sweet version of it.

Once you have the wine, it’s time to get cooking. I made the flour mixture first, then dredged each chicken breast. I used a large skillet to cook and lightly brown the seasoned chicken. Then, I added the sliced fresh mushrooms and onions. Cook it for a few more minutes to let the chicken absorb the flavor and aroma of the vegetables. After that, add in the dry marsala wine then cover the pan.

While I was waiting for the dish to cook, I made some fettuccine alfredo to serve alongside this savory dish. I just wanted to get the full Olive Garden chicken marsala experience since it’s what they usually pair it with at the restaurant. You can also serve this over white rice, or make mashed potatoes on the side. By this time, my chicken marsala Olive Garden dish was ready to eat, and I savored each bite of it.

While eating, it also got me thinking about making a cheese stuffed chicken marsala version next time. I would love to experience the oozing cheese from the wine drenched chicken. I bet it would taste just as wonderful and delicious as this chicken marsala Olive Garden copycat.
