Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Lingonberry sauce, for serving
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
-
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
-
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, sprinkle flour over the melted butter. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
-
Slowly pour in beef broth while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the gravy thickens.
-
Stir in heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce thickens.
-
Serve the Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes or noodles.
