Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
-
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter.
-
In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, add the flour and stir continuously until it turns golden brown, about 1 minute.
-
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, until they are cooked through.
-
Serve the Swedish meatballs over a bed of buttered egg noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley.
