Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Lingonberry jam, for serving (optional)
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
-
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
-
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-6 minutes.
-
Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, whisk in the flour until smooth.
-
Gradually stir in the beef broth, cranberry sauce, and heavy cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
-
Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is heated.
-
Serve the Swedish cranberry meatballs with lingonberry jam on the side, if desired.
