How to Make Fried Fish with Sweet Chili and Garlic Sauce
With a thick sweet chili and garlic sauce, this popular Thai deep-fried fish is brimming with flavors. Flaky tilapia is coated with flour for a crispy dish.
Ingredients
- 1 large nile tilapia, or other perch type fish
- 1 Thai long chili, or other mild red chili
- 2 Thai hot chilies
- 5 large garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 cup vegetable oil, more or less, depending on the pan
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
Instructions
- Coat the fish in flour and fry it in deep oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side, then remove it to a wire rack to drain the oil.
- Pour the oil from the pan, leaving just a little to coat the pan, then add the chilies, garlic, sugar, and fish sauce.
-
Fry until it makes a rich and sticky sauce.
- Arrange the fish on a nice plate, then pour the sauce over it.
-
Serve with steamed rice. Enjoy!
