How To Make Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake

Rich, gooey chocolate cake with a warm, molten center – made in your slow cooker!

Total: 2 hours 10 minutes



  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup boiling water


  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.

  3. Stir in chocolate chips.

  4. Pour batter into a greased crockpot.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together boiling water and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa powder.

  6. Pour mixture over top of cake batter in crockpot.

  7. Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours, or until cake is set around the edges, but center is still slightly gooey.

  8. Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
