How To Make Crockpot Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Recipe

A sweet, fruity dessert made in a crockpot.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 3 hours on high or 5 hours on low
Total: Approx. 3-5 hours

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 can pineapple rings (reserve the juice)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup reserved pineapple juice

  1. Melt the butter in the crockpot on high, then sprinkle the brown sugar on top.

  2. Drain the pineapple rings, reserving the juice. Arrange them on top of the brown sugar mixture, and place a cherry in the center of each ring.

  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, eggs, and reserved pineapple juice. Mix well.

  4. Carefully pour the cake batter over the pineapple and cherry layer.

  5. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 5 hours, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. To serve, invert the crockpot onto a serving dish, so the pineapple layer is on top.
