
How To Make Unstuffed Cabbage Casserole
This cabbage casserole is loaded with ground meat, simmered with tomatoes, bay leaf, parsley, and rice, then topped with layers of crisped cabbages.

Ingredients
- 1lblean ground beef
- ½lbground pork
- 1onion,diced
- 3garlic cloves,minced
- 1cuptomato sauce
- 1cantomato soup
- 2tbsptomato paste
- 28ozcanned tomatoes,diced, with liquid
- 1tspdried dill
- 3tbspfresh parsley
- 1bay leaf
- salt & pepper,to taste
- 2½cupscooked rice,brown or white
- 1tbspolive oil
- 8cupscabbage,chopped
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9×13-inch pan.

Brown ground beef, ground pork, onion and garlic until no pink remains. Drain any fat.

Add tomato sauce, tomato soup, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dill, parsley, and bay leaf. Simmer covered 10 minutes. Remove bay leaf and stir in rice.

Meanwhile, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add cabbage and cook until tender-crisp.

Place half of the cabbage in the pan. Top with half of the beef/rice mixture. Repeat layers ending with beef/rice.

Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
