Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbsp sake
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and green onions to make the marinade.

  2. Add the beef slices to the marinade and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

  3. Preheat the grill or broiler to medium-high heat.

  4. Thread the marinated beef slices onto the soaked bamboo skewers.

  5. Brush the skewers with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

  6. Grill or broil the beef skewers for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.

  7. Serve hot with steamed rice and garnish with extra green onions, if desired.
