How To Make BBQ Ribs and Dry Spice Rub (Big John’s Copycat)
Savor a finger-licking dinner with these Big John’s-inspired BBQ ribs. The meat is rubbed with chile and spices, grilled, then brushed with a savory sauce.

Ingredients
- 1cupchili powder
- 1tbspdried garlic,minced
- 1tsponion powder
- ½tspground cumin
- 1½tspsalt
- 2tbspseasoning salt
- 2lbsrib roast
- 4cupstomato sauce,canned
- ¼cupbrown sugar,packed
- ½cupfresh tomato,chopped
- ¼tbspWorcestershire sauce
- 2tbspdried onion flakes
- ¼cupsoy sauce
- ¼cupwater
Instructions

In a small bowl or jar, mix together the chile powder, dried minced garlic, onion powder, cumin, salt, and seasoning salt.

Place rib roast on a medium baking sheet. Rub vigorously with ½ of the chile powder mixture.

Cover and refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours.

In a medium saucepan, mix together ½ of the chile powder mixture, tomato sauce, brown sugar, tomato, Worcestershire sauce, dried onion flakes, soy sauce, and water.

Cook for 3 to 5 hours, stirring occasionally, over low heat.

Prepare an outdoor grill for indirect heat. Lightly oil grate.

Cook ribs covered on the prepared grill for 3 to 5 hours, or to desired doneness. Brush with the sauce mixture from the medium saucepan during the last minutes of cooking.
