How To Make Sweet Shortcrust Pastry
A delicious and buttery pastry perfect for sweet treats.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 100g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 50g powdered sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp ice water
Instructions

In a food processor, combine flour, butter, and powdered sugar. Pulse until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the egg yolk and ice water. Pulse again until the dough comes together.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until smooth.

Flatten the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to fit your tart/pie dish.

Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough to the dish and press it gently into the corners.

Trim off any excess dough and prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbles.

Bake the pastry shell for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and let it cool before filling with your desired sweet filling.
