How To Make Walleye Meunière

This delicate and flavorful dish features pan-fried walleye fillets in a browned butter and lemon juice sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 (6-ounce) walleye fillets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Rinse walleye fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, salt, and black pepper.

  3. Dredge each walleye fillet in the flour mixture to coat.

  4. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat until it begins to brown.

  5. Add walleye fillets and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Remove walleye fillets from skillet and transfer to serving plates.

  7. Add lemon juice to the skillet and stir to combine with the remaining browned butter.

  8. Pour lemon-butter sauce over the walleye fillets and top with chopped parsley.
