Cooking fish can be very tricky, especially if some are too delicate to be cooked. Well, with our fish recipes, it’ll be easy as 1-2-3. We’ve got the details on different cooking methods for the perfect fish dish.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 mackerel fillets
- 4 cups cooked Japanese short-grain rice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 tablespoons sake
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 nori sheet, cut into small strips
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and grated ginger to make the marinade.
-
Place the mackerel fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for 10 minutes.
-
Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Remove the mackerel from the marinade, reserving the marinade, and cook the fillets for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
-
Meanwhile, heat the reserved marinade in a small saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
-
To assemble the rice bowls, divide cooked rice among 4 bowls. Top with grilled mackerel fillets, drizzle with the thickened marinade, and garnish with green onions, nori strips, and sesame seeds.
-
Serve hot and enjoy!
