  • Soy sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package instructions and set aside to cool.

  2. Lay a sheet of nori seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat.

  3. Wet your hands with water and spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly on the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.

  4. Place cucumber strips and sliced smoked mackerel along the bottom edge of the rice, about 1 inch from the bottom.

  5. Using the sushi mat, tightly roll the maki, applying gentle pressure to ensure it holds its shape.

  6. Wet a sharp knife and slice the roll into bite-sized pieces.

  7. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

  8. Serve the smoked mackerel maki rolls with soy sauce for dipping.
