How To Make Dum Adai (South Indian Traditional Tart)

Dum adai is a traditional Indian tart that you can make with ingredients in your pantry. Cashews and pistachios add a variety of textures to this treat.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • cupssemolina
  • ½cupplain flour
  • 1egg
  • ½cupghee
  • cupscoconut milk,thick
  • 2cupspowdered sugar
  • 1tspcardamom powder

For Greasing:

  • ghee
  • plain flour

For Garnish:

  • 10cashews,sliced
  • 10pistachios,sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees C for 10 mins.

  2. Soak semolina and plain flour in coconut milk for 2 hours.

  3. After 2 hours, mix powdered sugar, egg, ghee and cardamom in the soaked coconut milk with semolina and plain flour. Mix well with a spatula and make sure there are no lumps.

Greasing:

  1. Grease the egg tart mould with some ghee and sprinkle it with a little bit of plain flour. Then, pour the batter into the tart moulds.

  2. Bake at 180 degrees C for 25 mins.

  3. Let cool and serve.
