Ingredients
- 1 9-inch pie crust
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 3 cups of milk
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Whipped cream, for serving
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

Remove from heat.

In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks.

Gradually whisk a small amount of the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg yolks.

Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture, whisking constantly.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until well combined.

Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set.
