How To Make Malaysian Nasi Goreng Recipe

This dish is a delicious Malaysian fried rice that is spicy, flavorful, and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of cooked rice
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 bird’s eye chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp of belacan (shrimp paste)
  • 2 tbsp of kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of chopped vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.

  2. Add the garlic, onion, and chilies, and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add the belacan and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

  4. Add the cooked rice, kecap manis, soy sauce, salt, and sugar, and stir-fry for 5-8 minutes, until the rice is evenly coated and slightly crispy.

  5. Push the rice to the sides of the wok or skillet, and crack the eggs into the center.

  6. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked through, and then mix them with the rice.

  7. Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, until they are cooked to your liking.

  8. Serve the Nasi Goreng hot with sliced cucumbers, scallions, and lime wedges on the side.
