How To Make Copycat Subway Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Recipe
A delicious copycat recipe of Subway’s Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sub.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 boneless chicken breasts
- 1 cup of soy sauce
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 2 tbsp of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of white vinegar
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup of sweet onion sauce
- 2 tbsp of cornstarch
- 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, white vinegar, minced garlic, and sweet onion sauce.

Add chicken breasts to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least an hour.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Transfer chicken to a baking dish and pour the remaining marinade over the top.

Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

Remove the chicken from the oven and transfer it to a plate. Reserve the remaining marinade in the baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix together cornstarch and 1/4 cup of water until smooth. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the reserved marinade and whisk until combined.

Heat the sauce on medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

Serve chicken over rice and pour the sweet onion teriyaki sauce over the top.
