Ingredients

  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions.

  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until combined.

  4. Gradually add milk and whisk until smooth. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until mixture thickens.

  5. Add salt, pepper, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until cheese is melted.

  6. Add cooked macaroni and stir until coated with cheese sauce.

  7. Pour mac and cheese into a greased baking dish.

  8. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.

  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
