Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup diced apple
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Stir in the diced apples.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.

  4. In a large Dutch oven or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F.

  5. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop the batter into the oil, frying a few fritters at a time. Cook until golden brown, flipping once, about 2 minutes per side.

  6. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

  7. Dust the warm fritters with powdered sugar before serving.
