How To Make Denny’s Country Fried Steak Recipe
A classic Southern dish of crispy steak smothered in rich gravy served with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Ingredients
- 4 cube steaks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup milk
- vegetable oil for frying
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 lb. Russet potatoes
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 lb. green beans, trimmed and halved
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

In a shallow dish, mix together 1 cup flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

In another shallow dish, whisk together buttermilk and 1/2 cup milk.

Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, then dip into the buttermilk mixture, and dredge again in the flour mixture.

Fry the steak in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 5-7 minutes per side.

In a small saucepan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tbsp flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until lightly golden.

Gradually whisk in 2 cups milk until smooth. Cook, whisking constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes.

Season gravy with salt and black pepper to taste.

Peel and dice the potatoes. Boil in salted water for 20 minutes or until tender. Drain.

Mash the potatoes with butter and milk until smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp of butter over medium heat. Add the trimmed and halved green beans and sauté until crisp-tender, about 6-8 minutes.

Serve the country fried steak with the gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
