Microwave Poached Eggs Recipe

Here’s a method that’s quick, easy and almost foolproof.  Make sure to poke a toothpick through the yolk first.


How To Make Microwave Poached Eggs

This trick let's you cook a poached egg with just the use of a microwave.

  • 1 large egg
  • tsp white vinegar
  • cup water
  • salt and pepper


  1. Add the water and white vinegar to a 6 oz custard cup.

  2. Break egg into cup, pierce egg yolk with toothpick, and cover dish loosely with plastic wrap.
  3. Place in microwave and cook for 1 minute or until desired doneness.
  4. You may need to experiment with cooking times based on the wattage of your microwave and taste preference. Immediately remove egg from hot water with a slotted spoon as it will continue to cook.

  5. Serve with salt and pepper to taste.
