  • 2lbstomatoes,such as Roma tomatoes
  • 1large white onion
  • 1jalapeño,stemmed, seeded
  • ¼cupchipotle peppers,in adobo sauce, or one 3.5 oz. can
  • 4garlic cloves
  • 2tbspcocoa powder,unsweetened
  • 1tspsalt


  1. Pulse all the ingredients in a food processor until blended. Serve or refrigerate up to one week.

Recipe Notes

f you do not like spicy salsa, leave out the jalapeño, and just start with one or two chipotle peppers, then add more of either to taste.
