How To Make Chicken Base

A good chicken base or chicken broth is an important foundation for a lot of dishes. This 5-ingredient recipe is as simple as it gets.

  • 2lbchicken bones
  • 1onion,quartered
  • 2celery stalks
  • 2carrots,peeled, and quartered
  • 1bunchparsley,if desired


  1. Place the chicken into a large stockpot. Place the vegetables on top of the chicken.

  2. Cover with water.

  3. Gently heat the stock, do not allow the stock to boil.

  4. Cook for about 3 hours on low.

  5. Strain the stock, and return the liquid to the pot. Reduce the liquid in half.

  6. Use the remaining liquid as base.
