Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried split peas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 ham hock
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a crockpot, combine all ingredients.

  2. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the peas are soft.

  3. Remove the ham hock and shred the meat, then return it to the crockpot.

  4. Serve hot.
