Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Mix well and shape the mixture into small meatballs.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.

  3. In the same pan, add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala to the pan. Stir well to coat the onions and spices.

  5. Pour in the tomato puree and water. Season with salt to taste. Stir everything together and bring to a simmer.

  6. Add the cooked meatballs back to the pan and let them simmer in the sauce for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and the flavors are well blended.

  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
