Ingredients

  • 500g ground meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (adjust according to taste)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, yogurt, breadcrumbs, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.

  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs and set aside.

  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Fry the meatballs until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  4. In the same pan, add the tomato puree and water. Bring to a simmer.

  5. Return the meatballs to the pan and cook in the tomato sauce for about 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through.

  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
