How To Make Sweet and Spicy Dr Pepper Pulled Pork

Dr Pepper and brown sugar offer a sweet tone to this pulled pork recipe. There are also spicy notes thanks to the chipotle peppers.

  • 1whole large onion
  • 5lbspork shoulder,(1 whole)
  • 1ozChipotle Peppers In Adobo Sauce,(1 can)
  • 2cansDr. pepper
  • ¼cupbrown sugar
  • salt and pepper,to taste

For Optional Toppings:

  • lettuce,shredded
  • cheese
  • avocado
  • salsa
  • cilantro


  1. Cut onion in slices and line the bottom of the crockpot. Lay the pork shoulder on top. Sprinkle pork with brown sugar and salt and pepper.

  2. Pour the can of chipotle peppers on top of the pork and pour both cans of Dr Pepper on top.

  3. Turn the crockpot on Low and cook for 4 to 6 hours. Remove pork from the slow cooker and shred. Return the shredded pork to crockpot and allow to heat through.

  4. Serve on tortillas and top with favorite toppings.
