Ingredients

  • 5 lb pork spareribs , cut in serving size pieces
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup pineapple, crushed and undrained
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ¾ cup water
  • cup onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tsp soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • Onion leeks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees F then put the spareribs in a single-layer shallow pan.
  2. Place in the oven for 20 minutes and allow it to brown. Drain off the fat.
  3. Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, dry mustard, vinegar, pineapple, ketchup, water, onions, and soy sauce in a saucepan then stir until smooth.
  4. Cook over medium heat until thick and glossy, stirring constantly.
  5. Sprinkle salt and pepper over browned ribs then spoon about half of the sweet-sour sauce over the meat.
  6. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Turn the ribs, cover with the remaining sauce, and bake for 30 minutes or more, or until well done.
  8. Serve with rice and top with onion leeks. Enjoy!
