How To Make Sweet and Sour Spareribs
The addition of Chinese flairs makes this recipe a mouthwatering dish that is perfect for weekend dinner or any family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 5 lb pork spareribs , cut in serving size pieces
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup pineapple, crushed and undrained
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ¾ cup water
- â…“ cup onions, finely chopped
- 3 tsp soy sauce
- Salt and pepper
- Onion leeks, chopped
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees F then put the spareribs in a single-layer shallow pan.
- Place in the oven for 20 minutes and allow it to brown. Drain off the fat.
- Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, dry mustard, vinegar, pineapple, ketchup, water, onions, and soy sauce in a saucepan then stir until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat until thick and glossy, stirring constantly.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over browned ribs then spoon about half of the sweet-sour sauce over the meat.
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake for 45 minutes.
- Turn the ribs, cover with the remaining sauce, and bake for 30 minutes or more, or until well done.
- Serve with rice and top with onion leeks. Enjoy!
