How To Make All-in-one Posh Lamb Balti

  • 500g lamb, diced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 200ml chicken stock
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Fresh coriander, for garnish


  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until golden brown.

  2. Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  3. Add the lamb to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.

  4. Stir in the garam masala, turmeric powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, and paprika. Cook for 1 minute to release the flavors.

  5. Pour in the canned tomatoes and chicken stock. Stir well to combine.

  6. Add the chopped bell peppers and salt. Cover the pan and simmer for 1 hour, or until the lamb is tender.

  7. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan bread or rice.
