  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegan chocolate chips for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Add the orange juice, vegetable oil, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until smooth and combined.

  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  5. Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. Optional: Sprinkle vegan chocolate chips on top of the cake for added indulgence.
