Ingredients

  • 4 beef steaks, 1 inch thick
  • 2 tbsp whole black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Crush the black peppercorns and sea salt with a rolling pin or mortar and pestle.

  2. Pat the steaks with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.

  3. Rub the black pepper and sea salt mixture onto both sides of the steak, pressing the mixture into the meat.

  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat.

  5. Add the steaks to the skillet and cook each side for approximately 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet, basting the steaks with the melted butter for 1-2 minutes.

  7. Let the steaks rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.
