How To Make Homemade Toffee Apples
Delicious caramel-covered apples with a crunchy toffee coating.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 apples
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Wooden skewers
Instructions
-
Wash and dry the apples. Remove the stems and insert wooden skewers into the top of each apple.
-
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup, and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved.
-
Continue to cook the mixture, without stirring, until it reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer, also known as the hard crack stage.
-
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
-
Dip each apple into the hot toffee mixture, tilting the saucepan to fully coat the apple. Allow any excess toffee to drip off.
-
Place the toffee-coated apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow them to cool and harden completely.
-
Serve the homemade toffee apples immediately or store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
