How To Make Anise Biscotti Recipe

Crunchy and sweet Italian cookies flavored with anise seeds, perfect for dipping in coffee or tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp anise seeds
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, butter, baking powder, salt, and anise seeds until mixture becomes crumbly.

  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until dough forms.

  4. Transfer dough to floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes.

  5. Divide dough into two pieces and form each into a log-shaped roll about 1 inch in diameter and 13 inches long.

  6. Place each roll on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes until light golden brown.

  7. Remove from oven and let the rolls cool for 5-10 minutes.

  8. Cut each roll diagonally into 1/2 inch slices using a serrated knife.

  9. Arrange slices back on baking sheet and let them bake for another 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy.

  10. Remove from oven and let them cool on a wire rack.

  11. Store in an airtight container.
