- 50g raisins
- 2 eggs
- 500ml milk
- 50g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- icing sugar, for dusting
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
-
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice and cut them into triangles.
-
Arrange half of the bread triangles in the greased baking dish, buttered side up.
-
Sprinkle half of the raisins over the bread.
-
Arrange the remaining bread triangles on top, buttered side up, and sprinkle the remaining raisins over them.
-
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
-
Pour the mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
-
Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
-
Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and pour hot water into the roasting pan to create a water bath.
-
Bake for 40 minutes or until the pudding is set and golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
-
Dust with icing sugar before serving.
