- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- Pink or blue food coloring
- Pink or blue candy melts for filling
- Buttercream frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- Pink or blue food coloring
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

Divide the batter into two separate bowls.

Add pink food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other.

Fill each cupcake liner halfway with the pink batter and then add a small dollop of pink or blue candy melt in the center. Top with blue batter or vice versa.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.

For the buttercream frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy.

Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat until smooth and creamy.

Divide the frosting into two separate bowls and add pink food coloring to one and blue food coloring to the other.

Pipe the two different colored frostings onto the cupcakes in a swirl pattern.

Decorate with sprinkles or other edible decorations, if desired.
