Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • Additional sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.

  3. Add in the milk and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cake.

  7. Sprinkle the tops of the cakes with additional sugar.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Allow the cakes to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
