Grandma used to make these for my brothers and sister and I when we were younger. Very good recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cup unsifted all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, stir together crunchy peanut butter and butter until creamy.
  • Gradually beat in sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Beat in vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into peanut butter mixture.
  • Spread batter into a greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool in pan.
  • For frosting, beat together creamy peanut butter and vanilla. Beat in 2 tablespoons milk and 1 cup sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually beat in remaining sugar and milk until smooth and of a spreading consistency.
  • Use to frost cooled peanut butter bars. Cut into 24 equal pieces.
