How To Make Portuguese Honey Cake Recipe

A delectable, moist honey cake infused with the flavors of cinnamon and lemon.

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp grated lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 8×8 inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar together until pale and creamy.

  3. Add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and lemon zest to the bowl and mix until combined.

  4. Add honey and oil to the batter. Mix until smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. Cool the cake for 10 minutes in the baking dish before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
