Ingredients

  • 4 slices of day-old bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides.

  3. Heat a pat of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  4. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.

  5. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.

  6. Serve the Pain Perdu warm with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and maple syrup.
