How To Make Nigella’s Beef Stroganoff Recipe
A classic Russian dish of tender beef strips in a creamy sauce, finished with a hint of tangy mustard.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 500g beef fillet, thinly sliced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 250g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 300ml beef stock
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 150ml sour cream
- Salt and pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan, add the beef, onion and garlic and cook over a high heat for 5 minutes until browned.

Add the mushrooms, lower the heat and cook for another 5 minutes until they are softened.

Sprinkle over the flour and stir until all the ingredients are coated.

Gradually add the beef stock, stirring continuously to ensure there are no lumps.

Stir in the Dijon mustard and season with salt and pepper.

Simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened.

Stir in the sour cream and heat through for a further 5 minutes.

Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
