  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of burgundy wine
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic, and cook until softened.

  2. Stir in the burgundy wine, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has reduced by half.

  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. If desired, strain the sauce to remove any solids before serving.
