How To Make Persimmon Bread

This persimmon bread is studded with crunchy walnuts and juicy raisins. Making them the perfect filling afternoon snacks.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 cups persimmon pulp
  • 1 cup dates, chopped
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped, optional
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, optional but recommended


  1. Combine the sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, then whisk together.
  2. Add the eggs, milk, vanilla, butter, persimmon pulp, then mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Fold in the dates, nuts, and chocolate chips.
  4. If baking in a large loaf pan or bundt pan, bake at 325 degrees F for 1½ hours.
  5. If using smaller loaf pans, bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour. Check the middle of the bread with a toothpick at 50 minutes. If the toothpick comes out clean, the bread is done.
  6. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
