Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup pesto sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
-
Gradually add warm water and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet, pressing it to fit the pan.
-
Spread the pesto sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the pesto.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
-
Remove from the oven and let the focaccia cool for a few minutes before slicing.
-
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
