Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground steak
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh tarragon
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped shallots

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground steak, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4 patties.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to desired doneness.

  4. While the patties are cooking, spread the cut fries on a baking sheet and drizzle with vegetable oil. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped tarragon, white vinegar, lemon juice, and chopped shallots to make the cheat’s béarnaise sauce.

  6. Serve the cooked steak patties with the crispy fries and drizzle the cheat’s béarnaise sauce on top.
